In response to investor demand, asset managers and investment funds are increasingly branding and marketing their funds and strategies as “ESG” or “ sustainable”. At the same time, regulators including the Canadian securities administrators and stakeholders’ scrutiny of ESG disclosure is becoming more acute and the risk of potential legal or compliance hurdles is increasing. In this context, aligning strategies, objectives, operations, and disclosure (including marketing materials) is key.
