SUSTAINABLE FINANCE IN OPENING OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRADE AND EXPORT
Presented by Export Development Canada (EDC)
2:15 - 3:15 pm
The financial services sector plays a critical role in financing the global shift to a low carbon and climate resilient economy and is increasingly deploying innovative financing mechanisms such as sustainable bonds and sustainability-linked lending to support its customers’ net-zero ambitions. Strong risk management is one of the keys to business success and is a critical element of how creditors are living up to their ESG commitments, as well as those of their clients. How are financial institutions incorporating ESG factors into their risk assessment frameworks, and what measures are they implementing to integrate sustainability-related criteria into their own risk management practices? What are the potential benefits and challenges associated with sustainability integration in trade and export finance and in risk management? In what ways can collaboration between export credit agencies, financial institutions, and risk management experts be strengthened to promote ESG integration across the export finance value chain?
